This easel is excellent for most large work. An artist can work sitting or standing, with a variety of easily adjusted settings and angles. It features a double laminated quad base, side frames, and sturdy H-frame construction. An adjustable extension on the main frame allows added solidity for larger canvases. The Lyptus Santa Fe II comes with two canvas holders and a painting tray; the middle canvas holder can be used for smaller works. The self-leveling bottom tray features a melamine paint mixing surface with two large stainless steel canisters. Its marine style winch raises and lowers, easily allowing works weighing up to 200 lbs. The easel also features plastic front locking casters. The Lyptus Santa Fe II Easel is the studio easel of choice for artists concerned with environmental issues. It's made of premium grade Lyptus, a hardwood tree grown in South America that matures in only 15 years. Compared to other hardwoods that take 70 to 100 years to mature, Lyptus is a wonderfully renewable resource. Lyptus is also extremely durable, able to withstand the wear and tear of everyday use. Built from solid oak for strength and aesthetics, this taboret is mounted on front-locking casters for mobility. What makes this taboret so unique is its flexibility. The top work surface can slide forward so the artist can sit at it like a desk, or it can slide backward to create an additional flat work area. The bottom drawers are accessible from either side of the taboret, and there are two generous cubbies in back for storage. The top work area features a 27 in. x 20 in. melamine surface with a Plexiglas insert for easy clean up. There's also a large stainless steel canister, two small stainless steel cups, and 18 holes for brushes. There are eight drawers. The three top drawers have inner dimensions of 45 in. wide x 17 1/2 in. deep x 2 in. high. The five bottom drawers have inner dimensions of 46 in. wide x 26 in. deep x 2 1/2 in. high--large enough to hold full sheets of watercolor paper. The base is 50 in. wide x 28 in. deep x 42 1/2 in. high. The front working height is 35 in. The top storage area is 48 1/2 in. wide x 6 1/2 in. deep. And the storage areas in the back (behind the top three shelves) are 47 in. wide x 7 1/2 in. deep x 6 1/4 in. high and 47 in. wide x 8 in. deep x 7 1/4 in. high. It features: Treadle wheel design provides a unique sense of wheel head control (great for beginning or experienced students) Large 30 in. x 30 in. x 5 in. heavy gauge, rustproof steel pan, overall height 36 in. Surface Gold Leaf is used for flat surface gilding or decorating, raised letters or truck lettering. Surface gold leaf may have a few irregularities and is often used where double gilding is required or the leaf will be distressed or toned. The surface leaf is loose between pages, and is picked up with a gilder's tip. Patent gold leaf is recommended for outdoor work on flat surfaces. Patent leaf is gold leaf mounted to special tissue paper by a pressure process. A book of patent gold leaf is assembled by placing each unit of gold leaf and tissue between pieces of thin rouged paper. The gilder can then remove one leaf at a time without disturbing the remaining leaves. Patent gold leaf is removed from the book without the aid of a gilder's tip. The leaf will stay on the tissue until it is pressed onto the prepared surface and the tissue backing is removed. Patent gold leaf is not suitable for water gilding and is best suited for flat surfaces.Each book contains 25 3 3/8 in. x 3 3/8 in. leaves and covers about 1 1/2 square feet.
