The 20D functions as the capture device and the Ultima 35 is the front and rear standard that swings, tilts and shifts laterally and vertically for perspective corrections and creative focusing. No shutter is necessary, since metering and exposure functions are controlled by the 20D. The 20D is powered by batteries housed in a battery grip. You must have the battery grip attached to the 20D before mounting the camera to its dedicated mounting plate. Because metering is done at the chip, there is no need to compute bellows compensation. Both front and rear standard movements provide quick and easy set up of images. The Ultima 35 places the sensor exactly in the optical axis vertically, horizontally and front-to-back. Any rear movement, whether swing, tilt or shift keeps the film plane on axis and in focus. The camera body can be taken off quickly and used as a handheld camera with its own compatible lenses for shots that require a stand-alone application. The camera easily remounts onto the Ultima 35 in perfect alignment for studio shooting. The standard camera kit only allows the DSLR to mount in a horizontal position. Sold separately, L-brackets mount the EOS 20D in a vertical position. Your camera (Canon EOS 20D, EOS-1Ds; Kodak DCS Pro, Nikon D1X and D2X or Fuji S2) provides 35mm ease of use. How it works The Ultima 35 places the sensor in the optical axis vertically, horizontally and front-to-back. Rear movements (swing, tilt, shift) keep the film plane on axis and in focus. The system is created for a full-frame sensor, but Cambo has adapters for the Nikon D1X/H and Fuji S2. Lenses Recommended: Schneider APO-Digitar lenses: 80mm or macro, 90mm, 100mm, 120mm or macro, 150mm, 180mm macro; WA-Digitar 28mm. The reason for the lens is the optics and diaphragm. The boom is especially made for quick set-up and is very light 12.13 lbs. (5.5kg) with a compact packed size 46 x 8.7 x 6.3" (117 x 22 x 16cm). The V5 boom has an extension range from 53 to 108.25" (135 to 275cm) from tripod to boom end. The boom tail uses standard fitness weights (not included) and slides into the main boom section for either counterweight adjustment or packing. The weight bar, including weights, can be taken from the tail (one knob) for an even more compact travelling size. The V5 has a vertical set-up as a standard feature for extremely compact operation when you don't have room for the conventional set-up.
